I was considerably bored for the first half of the novel. I must say as well that considering all the hype this book received, it took absolutely ages to get going. It almost feels like she could write a prequel novella and that would help clear up a lot of the confusion. However, so much of this book was spent reminiscing about the previous time Henley encounter the original Jigsaw Killer that it felt like I’d missed a previous book or something. It’s quite dark and I always respect when an author is willing to go a bit darker with their victims. The idea of there being a “jigsaw killer” with some unique ways that they mark bodies and dismember their victims but keep one part of them.

The plot for The Jigsaw Manis an interesting one, though nothing original. Straight away you’re thrown into the action with a number of bodies being found which suggests that someone is copying a killer that Henley herself helped put away years ago and caused her to need to take time out. The Jigsaw Man tells the story of DI Henley and her return to the frontline of the police force after a couple of years out and her experience with the Jigsaw Man and his copycat killer.
